DON’T FORGET YOUR ‘ID’
The excitement of going on a planned trip can be extinguished by forgetting one important piece of document. An opportune moment of signing a life changing business contract can be completely lost by forgetting to bring along this one important piece of document. A difference making transaction can be totally lost by failing to produce this one piece of document. Your I.D (Identification)
This is how it is in our Christian journey. Forgetting our identity in Christ will confuse who we are, where we belong and where we are going. This sums up the identity crisis.
Forgetting our identity in Christ will confuse where we belong and where we are going.
A forgotten identity is the breeding ground of;
- Insecurity,
- Vulnerability,
- Stagnation,
- Abuse,
- Anxiety,
- Uncertainty,
- Fear,
- Uncontrolled and broken down boundaries.
I have learnt in life that fear and failure thrives in an atmosphere of forgetfulness. As you press on in your Christian journey, don’t forget your identity. Do not permit pressure and the pleasure of life to make you forget your identity. Do not permit the highs and lows of life to make you forget your identity. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and in him you are established.
“Failure thrives in an atmosphere of forgetfulness.”
Romans 3:24 God has freely and graciously declared us righteous
Isaiah 54:14 You will be built solid, grounded in righteousness, far from any trouble, nothing to fear, far from terror, it won’t even come close.
It’s your identity that will give you access to uncommon doors of favour.
It’s your identity which will enable you to cross borders and venture into new territories.
It’s your identity which will entitle you to divine blessings.
It’s your identity which will bring a peace which surpasses all understanding.
It’s your identity which gives hope in a hopeless situation.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us so that we may become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Don’t forget your identity, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It’s a righteousness that is not a result of what you did or what you were doing or will ever do, but it’s one that is a result of what Jesus Christ did for you through the cross. It’s a righteousness based not on your performance but on the power of the finished work of the cross. It’s a righteousness obtained not by works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. It’s a righteousness founded not in the law given by Moses but in grace that came through Jesus Christ.
Don’t forget your identity, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
